We support clients in creating a care plan using principles of acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and attachment theory that best supports individual needs. Your therapist will work closely with you to determine the best approach to care, and will support you in creating goals that align with your specific needs. Each session will provide you with a safe, caring and compassionate space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences, and your therapist will support you in moving in a direction that optimizes your health and well-being.

Music can impact and affect us in deeply therapeutic ways, as music is a powerful tool for self-expression and connection. Certified Music Therapists (MTAs) are trained to incorporate various aspects of music into a model of care that supports physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual well-being; they work with individuals across the life span, and can specialize in treating a range of mental health needs. Your music therapist will work closely with you to set goals and objectives for your therapeutic process, and tailor a personalized approach for your specific needs. No previous musical training or experience is required.

Supervision with SarahRose is based on clinician or trainee-driven needs and experiences as well as a mutual exploration of different perspectives within the practices of psychotherapy and/or music therapy. SarahRose is a CAMT and CRPO-approved clinical supervisor.


Meditation

A practice of cultivating present-moment attention through mindfulness techniques such as breath awareness, body scans, and guided visualizations. Participants may experience increased relaxation and sharpened focus.


Sound Bath

An immersive full-body listening experience. Michaela crafts a meditative soundscape guided by quartz crystal singing bowls, drum, voice, and more to support a deeper state of rest and relaxation, which may invite therapeutic processes to take place, such as regulating the nervous system, slowing the brainwaves, lowering stress levels, and boosting energy.


Yoga

A mindful movement practice including breathing techniques, gentle stretches, asanas (physical postures) and meditation. This session may incorporate both dynamic and steady movements, which are adapted to meet the physical needs and desires of the participant(s).


Group Offerings

Group offerings include psychotherapy, music therapy, meditation, sound bath, and yoga. Bookings are available based on group class schedules.

Junie Baek is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Certified Music Therapist (MTA), a pianist and a soprano, and a master of social work candidate at the University of Toronto. She has earned a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University (2019) and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2023) and Fine Arts in Classical Performance (2017) from York University. In her therapy practice, Junie incorporates various approaches such as relational psychotherapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, positive psychology, mindfulness, play-based interventions, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Junie’s experience as a therapist includes supporting individuals living with chronic and complex health needs, bereaved adults, and children, teens, and young adults with emotional and relationship challenges in various care settings. As a first-generation immigrant, Junie also has a profound understanding of East Asian values and cultural nuances, and has experience supporting East Asian individuals with their unique needs. Michaela Bekenn (she/her/they) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), music therapist, certified sound therapy practitioner, yoga instructor, meditation guide, and singer-songwriter. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Master of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. Michaela is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT). She is a certified facilitator of Compassion-Based Resilience Training and mindfulness for stress reduction, addiction recovery, and chronic pain. Meet SarahRose Black, PhD, RP, MTA

Since 2013, Dr. SarahRose Black has been providing clinical care and psychotherapeutic support in a variety of settings including hospitals, hospices, long term care, and community care spaces. Connecting with individuals and creating positive, safe and compassionate therapeutic relationships is at the forefront of her approach. SarahRose has extensive experience supporting individuals living with chronic, serious, or advanced illness. She also works closely with individuals navigating anxiety and mood challenges, stress and anger management, low self-esteem, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, as well as grief and loss. As a certified music therapist with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists and registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, her focus is on supporting people through a combination of psychodynamic, attachment-focused, emotion-focused and mindfulness-based approaches. She received her doctorate from the University of Toronto in 2020 which included a collaborative specialization with the Institute for Life Course and Aging; her doctoral research focused on the experience of music therapy while navigating medical assistance in dying.
